Comfort Zones

Comfort is an interesting thing. Should we aim to be comfortable? Should we aim to minimize it? Do we choose to do so? Is being comfortable good? The answer isn’t so simple, is it?

Some people will never be comfortable no matter where they go, some choose comfort over everything else. The answer is probably a balance, but let’s look at the extremes.

People who are never comfortable may constantly be stressed or on edge. This may cause them to produce fantastic results, but also degrade over time. There’s no security in living like this, and security tends to be a good thing.

People who are always comfortable will never find anything new. It’s all familiar and known and they’re the king there. They will never become something extraordinary and will never explore radical ideas to meet their desires. It’s too much security, one that they can’t live without.

A proper balance is probably the best as usual.

Stepping out of a comfort zone is also an interesting idea. Do comfort zones expand? If they do, they definitely don’t always reach the point of desire. I guess it depends on what you want. If you want to be the best, you should leave it at the sacrifice of many things and vice versa.

For me, I think that leaving your comfort zone is a good thing and that the feeling of sink or swim is one of the best in terms of making me successful.

Despite, writing an article disdaining about how neither extreme is healthy, I think that long periods of discomfort are not a bad thing at all. I strongly encourage it in one’s youth. Growing strong is all that matters isn’t it? I wish I was that strong.
